Plot

Dae-Gil and King Yeongjo enter a match. Dae-Gil bets his life and King Yeongjo bets the entire Kingdom of Joseon on the outcome.

Dae-Gil is the best gambler in the Joseon era. He holds deep resentment inside, but is also cool on the exterior. King Yeongjo is a man who never lower his head without a convincing reason. Meanwhile, Dam-Seo exists solely to take revenge upon king.

SBS Sageuk Daebak Confirms Leads Jang Geun Seok, Lim Ji Yeon, and Yeo Jin Goo



When the main leads casting is confirmed mere days after the initial drama offer news broke, that isn’t a bad sign when the acting leads appears keen to sign on. UpcomingSBS Mon-Tues drama Daebak (Jackpot) will for sure be starring Jang Geun Seok as the male lead, Yeo Jin Goo as his rival, and Lim Ji Yeon as the leading lady. Goes to show what one good performance can do in transforming my impression, after High Societythe casting of Lim Ji Yeon in any role makes me optimistic rather than deflated.

Yeo Jin Goo is a no brainer positive add to any production, and the fact that he’s choosing the antagonist role and transitioning to an adult character continues to show me that he’s a serious auteur who wants to develop his craft over getting popular as quickly as he can. But overall it’s Jang Geun Seok’s involvement in his first sageuk in 8 years that makes me happiest, I loved him to pieces in Hong Gil Dong and he was definitely a memorable scene stealer in Hwang Jin Yi, it’s not an easy road to recapture the performances from way back when but if he’s serious about his acting then I have high hopes that he can pull it off and remind Korean audiences that he was one of their favorite child actors when he first started out.

Joining the cast is veteran actor Im Chang Jung, as well as actresses Yeon Jin Seo andChoi Jung Yoon. Writing is the screenwriter of Goddess of Fire and Warrior Baek Dong Soo, and directing will be the PD who worked on Mask as the second director. The story is set in the Joseon dynasty and described as a period version of Hallyu classic All In, a gambling revenge tale, but this time with the addition of royals vying for the crown. The 24-episode drama is slated to premiere in March after Six Flying Dragons.

Jang Geun-seok, Lim Ji-yeon, Yeo Jin-goo, Jeon Kwang-ryeol and Choi Min-soo are all coming together in one drama.

Jang Geun-soo plays the role of Baek Dae-gil, a cold hearted genius. He is the greatest card player in Joseon and carries a dagger.

Lim Ji-yeon plays Dam-seo, a woman born to kill the king. Her resentment towards him takes her step by step to the palace and only has eyes for revenge and no other.

Yeo Jin-goo plays an adventurer named Yeong Jo. He is a king who overcomes many obstacles. He has spirit that not even his father can kill and he never bows down to anyone else without good reason. He puts Joseon on the line for a battle with Dae-gil.

Choi Min-soo plays a cold-hearted king named Sook-jong. He is Jang Geun-seok and Yeo Jin-goo's father.

"Jackpot" is about a game between two men whose fates are on the line. It's the historical version of the 2003 drama "All In".

The drama is directed by Nam Geon and will be broadcast in March.

Yoon Jin Seo coming back with new drama, 'Jackpot'



Yoon Jin Seo is coming back with a new drama.

On February 3rd, a representative of FNC Entertainment announced that actress Yoon Jin Seo is going to make an official comeback with a new drama titled 'Jackpot (working title)' in March.

'Jackpot' is going to evolve around a prince of King Sookjong of Joseon, who gets abandoned only six months after his birth.

The abandoned prince, named Dae Gil (played by Jang Geun Seok), grows among merchants and gangsters, and gets involved into a major gamble with Youngjo (played by Yeo Jin Gu).

Yoon Jin Seo is going to play in 'Jackpot' as Mistress Choi, who becomes King Sookjong's wife after going through struggles because of her gamble-addict husband.

Yoon Jin Seo is widely recognized as one of the most leading actresses of Korea, and a great number of fans and viewers are showing huge anticipation for her new comeback.

Meanwhile, 'Jackpot' is going to premiere in March as the sequel for 'Six Flying Dragons.

Hyun-woo added to Jackpot as King Gyeongjong



Jackpot takes place in the time of King Sukjong’s reign, through to the earlier years of King Yeongjo’s rule. King Gyeongjong held the throne for a brief four-year gap between the two stronger monarchs: His father Sukjong, played by Choi Min-soo, reigned for 46 years, and younger half-brother Yeongjo (Yeo Jin-gu) ruled for 52. Gyeongjong was born to Sukjong’s concubine-turned-queen Jang Ok-jung, and lost his mother at a young age when she was executed for suspicion of cursing Queen Inhyun to cause her death.


The time period was rife with fierce factional politics and bitter warring between the Noron and Soron political parties, which I’m sure we’ll see reflected in the drama. The Sorons backed King Gyeongjong, while the Norons put their support behind Yeongjo. (If you’re one of the five people who watched Secret Door, Gyeongjong was the brother whose death haunted Yeongjo all his life, because he was suspected — correctly, in that drama’s case — of having had a hand in Gyeongjong’s death, which allowed him to ascend to the throne.)

All that is mostly colorful backstory, though, because the main plot of Jackpot centers around the young man played by Jang Geun-seok, born with royal blood but made to live a low-born life, who becomes the best gambler of the time. The hero wagers with his life and the king his country as they engage in “a game putting the two men’s fates and Joseon on the line.”

In this drama, Gyeongjong is a weak and quiet person who finds a fresh new start through the Sorons. Hyun-woo seems well-cast for the part; there’s just something so friendly and approachable about him, with the kind of aura to set you at ease. He gained noticed early on with Pasta, then again as a young scholar in Tree With Deep Roots, and had a great role as a likable, hard-working underdog in last year’s Awl. He hasn’t really broken out big-time yet, though I’m hoping he gets his moment in the spotlight someday.

Jackpot also features Im Ji-yeon as a swordswoman out to kill the king, Yoon Jin-seo as royal consort and Yeongjo’s mother, and Jeon Gwang-ryul as Lee Il-jwa, a rebel leader in direct opposition to Sukjong (and later, Yeongjo). The drama follows Six Flying Dragons on SBS.

Ma bucur ca printre protagonosti se numara si Jeon Kwang-Leol , unul dintre actorii mei preferati!

Cu multa placere, Elena, si mie imi place Jeon Kwang Leol, un actor excelent si imi place in general distributia( desi trebuie totusi sa recunosc, JJS nu e unul dintre preferatii mei)..insa cel mai mult imi plac Choi Min Soo( sper din suflet sa fie confirmat) si Yoon Jin Seo pe care, cum ziceam mai sus, abia astept sa o vad in rolul concubinei Choi Suk Bin( celebra Dong Yi)...una peste alta, astept cu mult interes drama care va urma dupa o alta pe care o urmaresc acum si care imi place grozav, Six flying dragons( sa spun drept chiar m-am mirat ca SBS-ul va avea tot o drama istorica dupa SFD, doar ca Jackpot am inteles ca va fi mai scurta, de 24 episoade.. oricum ma bucura alegerea lor).
