Da, Elena, ea e..si in Bridal mask a jucat,in Doctor stranger....i s-au dat roluri protagonice, alaturi de actori cunoscuti si in seriale destul de bune, desi e foarte tanara si nu exceleaza, dupa parerea mea, nici ca frumusete, nici ca si talent sau carisma...sunt atatea mult mai dragute si talentate ca ea...si cica, desi versiunea oficiala a MBC-ului e ca Han Groo a refuzat rolul, gurile rele spun ca de fapt cei de la MBC si-au retras oferta pe care i-o facusera ca cica voiau o actrita mai celebra si pt ca fanii coreeni n-au vrut-o pt rolul asta....asa ca au ajuns la "celebra" Jin Se Yeon Nu stiu daca faza cu Han Groo in Chaebol's daughter e sigura, dar m-as bucura sa fie, macar acolo sa joace, oricum mi se pare mai buna decat JSY.

Will Kim So-eun Walk the Night with Lee Jun-ki?



Yes, please, can we make this happen? We’ve gone through a lot of casting possibilities for Scholar Who Walks the Night, but if ever I wanted one to stick, it would be this one: Kim So-eun is the latest leading lady in contention, and is “positively considering” the sageuk fantasy romance set in the Joseon era about a vampire scholar who falls in love with a young woman who dresses as a man in order to sell books.

Lee Jun-ki recently signed on to play Mr. Vampire, and while I would’ve loved for him to act alongside previous heroine contender Han Groo (…though not so much the most recent contender, Jin Se-yeon), if we can’t have Han I would be happy with Kim So-eun. She’s got a great bubbly charm and has the ability to take characters with frustrating traits and make them relatable onscreen, which is a pretty crucial skill when dramaland is so littered with underdeveloped (or badly developed) heroines. She did that with the wide-eyed and overly trusting heroine of Liar Game, for instance, plus she’s also got sageuk experience under her belt (Horse Healer, Iron Empress). I’m down to see how she matches up against Lee Jun-ki.

Kim’s reps have confirmed that she is working out the final details with the producers — which, while not a confirmation, sounds like it’s farther along in the process than the others got. If I cross my fingers extra hard, will that help?

Lee Soo Hyuk Also in Talks for Historical Vampire Drama “The Scholar Who Walks the Night”



It has been revealed that Lee Soo Hyuk is considering a role in MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama “The Scholar Who Walks the Night.”

According to his agency, the model-turned-actor has received a casting offer for the drama, but has yet to accept it. Lee Soo Hyuk is currently adjusting his packed schedule to accommodate possible meetings and shoots for the drama.

Just a few hours ago, Kim So Eun was reported to be in talks for the same drama. Lee Jun Ki has been confirmed for the lead role, while TVXQ‘s Changmin is positively looking over his casting offer.

Based on a webtoon, “The Scholar Who Walks the Night” is a historical vampire drama set in the Joseon dynasty.

The drama is expected to premiere in July.

Jang Hee Jin Offered Second Female Lead in Scholar Who Walks the Night



If I wasn’t writing about dramas then I would go into hibernation mode with Scholar Who Walks the Night and have someone else wake up me when the casting is finally FINALLY finalized. It’s now bordering on the theater of the absurd with this drama’s inability to find female leads, and that includes both the first and second leading ladies. There is a new name in the mix and this time it’s clear which role she’s up for. Jang Hee Jin is in talks to join Scholar as the second female lead, who also becomes the female antagonist of the story in the second half.

If she’s confirmed for the role, she would have a lot of scenes opposite leading man Lee Jun Ki, harboring a great love for him that isn’t reciprocated. Her character is a top gisaeng in the city who was raised since childhood by Lee Jun Ki’s vampire scholar after he finds her near death. I haven’t watched Jang Hee Jin all the way through a drama since Big in 2012 but since then she’s done weekend dramas Thrice Married Woman and My Daughter Seo Young. Her acting is just alright but looks and aura wise she definitely fits this particular part suitably. I’m cool if she ends up as the spurned angry gisaeng, it’s a meaty enough part she could steal the thunder of the leading lady.

Kim So Eun confirmed for ‘Scholar Who Walks the Night’



Actress Kim So Eun has been confirmed for upcoming MBC TV Wed-Thu drama ‘Scholar Who Walks The Night.’

The production rights for ‘Scholar Who Walks the Night’ was brought over by Keyeast subsidiary company, Contents K, and Kim So Eun will join already confirmed cast members in Lee Joon Gi, Lee Soo Hyuk, and TVXQ’s Max Changmin.

The drama is adapted from a popular manhwa of the same name, and is set in the Joseon Dynasty era. A girl cross-dresses as a boy to sell books for a living after the downfall of her family following a conspiracy, and crosses paths with the handsome yet mysterious vampire scholar Kim Sung Yeol, which will be played by Lee Joon Gi.

Lee Jun Ki, Lee Yoo Bi, Kim So Eun, TVXQ’s Changmin Confirmed for “The Scholar Who Walks the Night”



There’s been a lot of casting news about “The Scholar Who Walks the Night,” and today, we finally get the confirmation that Kim So Eun, Lee Yoo Bi, and TVXQ‘s Changmin joins Lee Jun Ki as the leads for the new drama. Lee Jun Ki was the only one solidly confirmed until now.

“The Scholar Who Walks the Night” is a drama based on the popular webtoon by the same name. The original story is set in the Joseon dynasty and draws the story of young girl from a ruined upper-class family, who dresses up like a man to sell books. During one of her sales, she meets a vampire scholar.

Lee Jun Ki will play the beautiful and seductive vampire scholar named Kim Sung Yeol. Lee Yoo Bi will play the cross-dressing female lead.

While the first report on this confirmation stated that the four already did a script reading for the drama, a new report has come out to clarify that only a first meeting between the director and these four leads have been held.

This drama is expected to premiere in July after the yet to be broadcast “Agreeably Warm” completes its run. “Agreeably Warm” premieres after the currently airing “Angry Mom” on MBC.

Scholar Who Walks the Night Releases Character Descriptions and Readies to Start Filming


With MBC‘s next Wed-Thurs drama Warm and Cozy premiering next week, the network must be relieved that the follow up drama Scholar Who Walks the Night finally locked down the main cast last month. I actually found the casting discussion changes surrounding Night Scholar even more exhausting than befell Kill Me Heal Me, now only time will show whether the end product of Night Scholar turns out as satisfying as KMHM despite the casting difficulties. In a sign of how fast time flies, Night Scholar starts production next week as male lead Lee Jun Ki wraps up his schedule and heads to the drama set.

Sageuk dramas typically need more prep time so it’s not a indication of quality concerns that the drama is filming now despite the air date still a ways out in July. The network released articles this week revealing which characters are being played by the cast and providing a short description. Lee Jun Ki is, of course, playing the titular male lead, a scholar (yangban) vampire named Kim Sung Yul who is over 150 years old and has been cursed to never age and drink blood as sustenance. He dedicates his life to protecting the stability of Joseon and has resigned himself to a life of loneliness until he meets the female lead. Beyond Jun Ki’s perfect casting, all the other castings take a big longer to get used to.

Lee Yoo Bi will be playing the female lead, the daughter of a fallen noble family named Yang Shan. She cross dresses as a male bookseller to make ends meet, with a dream of earning enough money to leave Joseon behind and go to the Qing dynasty. Kim So Eun plays two new characters not in the source manhwa, one is the first love of Lee Jun Ki from 150 years ago when he was still human, and the other is a noble woman in the present time line named Hye Ryung who is engaged to marry the Crown Prince.

Changmin is Crown Prince Lee Yun who finds himself in a love triangle with Yang Shan and Sung Yul, and has a fiancee in Hye Ryung. While Changmin’s character Lee Yun is in the original manhwa, he doesn’t have a love line with Yang Shan, while another male character does so it appears the drama is combining those two male characters into one. Lee Soo Hyuk‘s character is the vampire antagonist to Kim Sung Yul while Jang Hee Jin rounds out the main cast as a love-spurned gisaeng named Soo Hyang who is unable to realize her love for Sung Yul ever since he saved her as a child and raised her.
