Fans of the Hong Sisters, writers of You're Beautiful, The Master's Sun, and Greatest Love, have been eagerly awaiting news of the title and premise of the new drama they have signed on to write for MBC. Here's what the Hong Sisters have shared about what they have in the works.

Staying true to what they do best, the sisters will write a romance, and this time it will take place on Jeju Island. So far the working title is Jeju Island Gatsby. Initially it was meant to be a time travel drama with characters traveling back and forth between modern times and 100 years ago. However, they decided to change the entire story, and so far all they have announced is that the new story will be a romance set on Jeju Island. I wonder how significant the reference to "Gatsby" is in the title. I can see the connection between Jeju Island and the wealthy New York island The Great Gatsby takes place on. It would be fun to see a Korean remake of the classic, but hopefully the story will not end as tragically!

It has been confirmed now that Sora will play for a character named 'Lee Jung Joo' in drama 'Jejudo Gatsby' (working title) that will be aired around May via MBC. Yoo Yeon Seok in Talks for Hong Sisters’ Upcoming Drama, May Act Alongside Kang Sora

Actor Yoo Yeon Seok is currently in talks for the Hong Sisters‘ upcoming drama, “Jejudo Gatsby” (working title).

According to broadcast industry insiders, the actor has been offered the leading role and is currently considering it. If he accepts it, it will be his first drama role in two years since the hit “Reply 1994.”

Previously, it was reported that Kim Woo Bin and Kang Sora were in talks for the leading roles in the drama.

Yoo Yeon Seok was offered the role of protagonist Baek Gun Woo, a restaurant owner and a chaebol heir. Although not officially announced, Kang Sora is a strong candidate to be the lead in the drama. If she accepts, she will play his love interest, Lee Jung Joo, a working-class girl struggling to support her family on Jeju Island.

The drama will follow “Angry Mom” and is expected to premiere on MBC in May.
