Plot

Ho-Goo (Choi Woo-Sik) has never dated in his life. He runs into his first love Do-Hee (Uee). She is a member of the national swimming team and has a burning desire to win. She also talks like one of the guys. After Ho-Goo meets Do-Hee again, he becomes involved in a complicated romantic relationship and a dangerous friendship.

Based on the webcomic "Hogooui Sarang" by Yoo Hyun-Sook (published from March 16, 2013 to May 10, 2014 via cartoon.media.daum.net). Yoo Hyun-Sook also wrote the original webcomic "Naneun Maeil Geureul Humchyeobonda” which was adapted into 2013 tvN drama series "Flower Boy Next Door."
Former SS501 member Park Jung-Min was originally cast to play Byun Gang-Chul, but a spine injury caused him to drop out of the project. Im Seul-Ong was then cast to play the character.

UEE, Choi Woo-shik headline tvN romance drama Ho-gu’s Love



A new tvN drama has just announced its lineup and secured a slot on the scehdule: Based on a webtoon of the same name, the drama is titled Ho-gu’s Love (it can also be translated Fool’s Love, but dramaland loves its punny titles).

Ho-gu’s Love will be headlined by UEE (Gold Rainbow, Jeon Woo-chi) and baby-faced Choi Woo-shik (Fated To Love You, Rooftop Prince) in his first leading role, playing the title character Ho-gu. The character is in his seventh year of attempting to pass the civil service exam, and somehow ends up looking after an unidentified child.

UEE will play “swimming goddess” and national team member Do-hee, while Park Jung-min (formerly of idol group SS501) will play love interest to Ho-gu’s fraternal twin sister Ho-kyung, who has yet to be cast.

I like the leads well enough, but I’m more interested in this drama’s producers, who were last teamed together on tvN’s bubbly rom-com Flower Boy Ramyun Shop — that show was fizzy and adorable, and if they can produce something along those lines, I’d be very happy. Other credits on their respective resumés: PD Pyo Min-soo worked on IRIS 2, You’ve Fallen For Me, Coffee House, The World They Live In, and Full House, while writer Yoon Nan-joong also wrote Queen of the Office and several Drama Specials including The Great Gye Choon-bin.

Furthermore, the creator of the original webtoon for Ho-gu’s Love, Yoo Hyun-sook, was also the artist/creator of the webtoon that was turned into Flower Boy Next Door, which was another sweet romance that aired on tvN. And if I can’t get another Ramyun Shop, I’d love another Flower Boy Next Door instead. Either/or. I won’t be picky!

Ho-gu’s Love is set to follow Monday-Tuesday drama Valid Love and premieres in February.

Choi Woo Sik will join After School's UEE in the upcoming tvN Mon-Tues drama 'A Pushover's Love'!



According to UEE's agency Pledis Entertainment on December 16, UEE and Choi Woo Sik will star as the leads. Although it was previously reported that UEE will play Kang Ho Gu's (Choi Woo Sik) sister, it turns out she'll be playing the female lead Do Do Hee, who is a national swimming athlete.

Do Do Hee possesses pretty looks and a unique personality, and she looks for true love between her first love Kang Chul and Kang Ho Gu. Kang Ho Gu is a webtoon artist who would do anything for his first love Do Do Hee. The plot centers around a mysterious child who Kang Ho Gu ends up taking care of.The drama will crank in towards the end of this month and will premiere following 'Sensible Love' on February 9 at 11 PM KST.

2AM’s Lim Seulong to Transform into Elite Lawyer in Drama ‘Hogu’s Love’



Lim Seulong will be acting as lawyer ‘Byun Kang Chul,’ who has never experienced failure in his life. As a member of 2AM, Lim Seulong has expanded his activities to dramas and movies, receiving recognition for his acting ability.

‘Byun Kang Chul’ is a perfect man who grew up in the top 1 percent of Korea. Unlike Hogu, who has never had a girlfriend and has no dating skills, Byun Kang Chul has been superior since birth to the point where he doesn’t need dating skills. However in reality, he is sloppier than Hogu and will be catching the hearts of the female viewers with his charms.

An affiliate of tvN stated, “With Lim Seulong joining, the four main cast members, including Uee, Choi Woo Shik and Lee Soo Kyung, have been confirmed. Hogu’s Love is a romance drama about Korea’s representative ‘hogu’ (pushover), who always gets pushed and tricked, named Kang Hogu, the national swimming team’s goddess Do Do Hee, the ace lawyer Byun Kang Chul and the expert of ‘push and pull’ Kang Ho Su. It will be a cheerful and comical drama with unique characters, so we ask for your anticipation.”

Meanwhile, Hogu’s Love will be directed by director Pyo Min Su, who worked on KBS’ Iris2, Full House, The World That They Live In and more, and written by writer Yoon Nan Joong, who wrote the scripts of Flower Boy Ramen Shop, Queen of the Office and more.

Hogu’s Love is a drama based on the original webtoon series with the same title by writer Yoo Hyun Sook, who also wrote the original webtoon series of tvN’s Flower Boys Next Door.

The drama is set to begin on February 9 at 11 p.m. (KST) following Valid Love.

After School’s Uee, Choi Woo Sik and More Attend First Script Reading for ‘Hogu’s Love’


TvN’s upcoming drama Hogu’s Love, set to air following Valid Love, has revealed photos from the first script reading.

TvN’s Hogu’s Love is a romantic comedy depicting Hogu (Choi Woo Sik), who has no dating experience at all, coincidentally running into his first love Do Do Hee (Uee), and getting tangled up in a complicated relationship and a dangerous friendship.


It will be directed by director Pyo Min Su, who produced KBS 2TV’s Iris 2, Full House and The World that They Live In and written by writer Yoon Nan Joong, who wrote tvN’s Flower Boy Ramen Shop, KBS 2TV’s Queen of the Office and more.

The cast and production team of Hogu’s Love recently gathered at the CJ E&M center to carry out the first script reading. This day’s script reading was attended by Uee, Choi Woo Sik, Lee Soo Kyung, director Pyo Min Su, writer Yoon Nan Joong as well as the rest of the cast and staff members. Due to the unique characters and lines, the script reading was filled with laughter, marking a good start.

Prior to the script reading, director Pyo Min Soo said, “When this drama ends, it will be April of 2015, around the spring. I hope that we can carry this out happily and healthily so that this drama can help people welcome a happy spring.”

After School’s Uee, who will be acting as Hogu’s first love and the national swimming team’s goddess ‘Do Do Hee,’ perfectly pulled off the competitive and rough character. Uee’s comical acting shown in the script reading video also brings out laughter.

Choi Woo Sik, who will be acting as ‘Kang Hogu,’ showed off his cheerful charms and natural acting ability, transforming into Korea’s representative ‘pushover.’ Once the script reading started, Choi Woo Sik synced with his character by not only using various voice tones and facial expressions but meeting eyes with his co-star Uee as if he was actually filming the drama. Acting opposite each other, Uee and Choi Woo Sik smiled each time they met eyes during script reading, showing fantastic chemistry. They even earned the nickname of ‘Woo Yoo couple’ on the spot, hinting at the popularity of the drama.

The rookie actress Lee Soo Kyung, who will be acting as Hogu’s twin sister, also caught attention by syncing 100 percent with her character ‘Kang Ho Kyung.’ Standing at 170 cm tall and with a confident image, Lee Soo Kyung dynamically expressed her tomboyish and sloppy character.
